Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented FCA (Fire Code Assessment) Inspector to join our team on a part-time basis in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial fire and life safety inspections, along with hands-on knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with applicable fire codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive fire and life safety inspections of commercial properties
Evaluate buildings for compliance with local, state, and national fire codes and standards
Identify deficiencies, hazards, and code violations, and provide clear recommendations for corrective actions
Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports
Review and assess fire protection systems, including alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and property stakeholders regarding inspection findings
Verify compliance of electrical and mechanical installations with applicable safety regulations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire codes, industry standards, and best practices
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial fire and life safety inspections
Strong knowledge of fire codes (NFPA standards preferred) and regulatory compliance
Experience in electrical and mechanical contracting or systems evaluation
Excellent attention to detail and strong report-writing skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Relevant certifications (e.g., Fire Inspector, NFPA certifications, ICC certifications) are highly preferred
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Houston-area codes and permitting processes
Experience with facility condition assessments (FCA) or similar evaluation programs
Proficiency in inspection software and digital reporting tools
