JOB DESCRIPTION
The person in this position will plant, cultivate, harvest, grade, size, field pack, wash, and prepare organic vegetables, including bunched greens, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, and other organic vegetables. Duties may include planting roots, seeds, and bulbs; spreading and removing ground covering; tilling soil; weeding and thinning plants; transplanting by hand; staking, tying, trellising, pruning plants; setting poles and wires for vine plants; picking, cutting, lifting, or pulling crops; tying vegetables in bunches; and taking care to avoid damage to produce and plants.
Workers may also install, maintain, move, and remove irrigation systems, water lines, irrigation pipes, and related equipment. Additional duties may include mowing, cutting, weeding fields, ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, loading and unloading products or supplies, assisting with farm building or field maintenance, repairs, and fence repair.
Workers will use hand tools including, but not limited to, shovels, hoes, knives, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Workers must follow supervisor instructions, safety rules, field sanitation guidelines, heat stress protocols, and pesticide safety procedures. Work requires repetitive standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, and may occur in high temperatures, wet, dry, dusty, or other outdoor conditions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Willing to commit to the entire contract period
* 2 months of experience in harvesting of row crop vegetables
* Able to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day
HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE
Contract period: July 10th, 2026 through November 1st, 2026
6 hours per day Monday through Friday and 5 hours on Saturday.
SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS
$17.13 per hour.
The payroll period shall be bi-weekly.
The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies and personal protective equipment required in the performance of the specified work.
Employer provided housing/kitchen facilities are available for employees who are unable to reasonably return to their place of residence the same day.
Employer will furnish cooking facilities with working appliances, hot water, a place to prepare food at no cost to employees occupying employer-provided housing. Employees will purchase their own food and prepare their own meals. In the event that it becomes necessary for the employer to provide 3 meals a day to the workers, the employer will charge $16.78 per day or the current allowable charge as designated by the DOL. All breaks and lunches will be subject to local, state, and federal regulations.
Employer-provided housing is located within walking distance of the worksite, less than one mile. Workers residing in employer-provided housing will walk to work each workday. For any work locations outside walking distance, and for any incidental transportation between worksites, the employer will provide daily transportation from employer-provided housing to the place of work at no cost to workers. For workers residing in employer-provided housing, the employer will also provide free transportation at least once per week to the closest town or city for personal errands, such as groceries or banking services. The exact transportation schedule may vary depending on work location, weather, crop conditions, and other factors. Use of employer-provided transportation is voluntary. Workers who decline or are ineligible for employer-provided housing are responsible for their own daily transportation.
Transportation costs to the job site for domestic workers from outside the local commuting distance of the job site will be reimbursed by the employer after 50% of the contract period. Transportation costs from the job site to workers’ home will be provided to those domestic workers that complete the entire contract period.
Employer guarantees to offer employment for the hourly equivalent of 3/4 or 75% of the workdays of the work contract beginning with the first day of work.
