As the Family Specialist, you will work in an adult case management setting. Theses programs are designed to reduce isolation, increase connections to community services and improve quality of life.
Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) in Camden County assists families actively caring for or supporting an adult family member with a serious and persistent mental illness. The program strives to improve caregivers' overall functioning by offering information, education and support.
Schedule: Full-time
Salary: $40,000/per year
Competencies: The potential candidate must have an understanding of the biopsychosocial aspects of how mental illness can affect a family as well as individuals themselves; understanding and familiarity with available community resources; models for evaluating and coping with family stressors; appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution skills; ability to relate to an array of clientele; design and deliver educational workshops; be creative and work independently; must be organized and develop effective work methods; take initiative in work situations; display appropriate discretion in sharing information with others.
Responsibilities: Develop and conduct a variety of support groups, education programs for seniors and families designed to promote mental health
Provide counseling and support groups for seniors
Conduct family support specialist duties such as individual sessions, provide psycho educational and phone consultation
Design and conduct Psycho educational workshops and activity group facilitation
Offer assessment of group participants who may be evidencing a need for mental health treatment; Link consumers to mental health treatment
Make recommendations to supervisor regarding program needs, ideas and areas for improvement
Collaborate with consumers, family members and other providers to develop service plans which identify needs, strengths and strategies for meeting needs of individual consumers
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other agencies serving seniors and their caregivers
Outreach and advocacy for consumers and families
Coordinate scheduling of in person, in field or in home meetings to assess

Qualifications: Bachelors degree, required- mental health related field (BA, BS, BSW) with one (1) year experience working with seniors; within the mental health system; and group work with families preferred but not required;
Masters degree in social work or related field, (counseling, psychology) preferred but not required;
Valid Drivers License in good standing
