The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a part-time Family Services Aide for the Adult Services Team to assist the family services staff in serving vulnerable adults, including older adults and adults with disabilities, who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation in Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights.

What You Do and How You Do It:

You will conduct home visits with or at the direction of Adult Services staff; support service delivery to ensure client safety and well-being; assist with investigations by completing collateral contacts to gather information from family members, service providers, and community partners; conduct screenings and assist with Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) screenings and Assisted Living Facility (ALF) assessments as appropriate; document all case-related activities in accordance with APS policies and procedures; enter and maintain accurate case information into state and local data systems; organize, maintain, and file case records and supporting documentation; assist with monitoring compliance tasks and case timelines; Perform other work as required.

Heres What You Need:

  • High school diploma supplemented with postsecondary coursework in subjects such as social work, human services, gerontology, or one of the social or behavioral sciences, business or related field, and relevant work experience in public administrative support work OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

We're Looking for Ideal Candidates Who Have:

  • Associate degree in Human Services or related field with two years of Human Services experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills preferred.
  • Preferred experience working with older adults or adults with disabilities.
  • Preferred knowledge and/or experience with Virginia Social Services benefits programs.
  • Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. A Chesterfield County applicationis also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.
