Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, empathetic, and knowledgeable in handling sensitive client matters including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, and domestic violence cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and file legal documents such as petitions, motions, discovery requests/responses, declarations, and proposed judgments.
- Prepare case summaries, trial notebooks, and hearing binders.
- Manage client files and maintain accurate case records in compliance with firm and legal standards.
- Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings with clients and court staff.
- Conduct legal research and compile information relevant to case proceedings.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients; provide updates, answer basic legal questions (as appropriate), and offer empathetic support.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and other court proceedings.
- Handle time-sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant family law statutes, local court rules, and filing procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a paralegal in family law.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
- Strong understanding of state and local family law procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency in case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with e-filing and working in multiple court jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of financial disclosures and marital settlement agreements.
