Job Description:

The College of Health and Human Services is accepting applications to create a pool of qualified faculty to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in ASL. We are seeking part time faculty for day and evening classes at the main campus location.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is housed within the College of Health and Human Services at Western Kentucky University and offers undergraduate and graduate programs, including a minor in American Sign Language Studies and a certificate in Deaf Studies. Requirements:

Master's degree (any degree type) in American Sign Language, Deaf Education, Education, Interpreting, Vocational Rehabilitation, or related area.

Exception: Equivalent Professional Qualifications will be considered for individuals with a bachelor's degree and professional work experience in the American Sign Language/Deaf Culture field

AND 18 hours of graduate credit in the academic disciplines listed above,

OR national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NAD) or American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Certification,

OR an equivalent ASL skills certification of ASLPI 3 Plus or SLPI Intermediate Plus.

All successful candidates must have the ability to engage in alternative modes of instructional delivery, which may include online (distance learning) courses. Instruction modality is based on assigned teaching duties.
