Description
The Facility Sweeper Operator sweeps, collects, and disposes of dirt and debris at designated HOLT locations using a Sweeping Truck. This position also assists the Facilities Department in performing general facility maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Drives and operates a Sweeping Truck in a safe manner at various HOLT CAT locations in HOLT’s territory
- Operate a vehicle in good standing and meet all state requirements in addition to meeting HOLT CAT safety and health guidelines
- Sweeps, collects, and disposes of dirt and debris in appropriate designated container(s)
- Drives and operates the Sweeper Truck in a safe and defensive manner in order to avoid traffic hazards and accidents
- Maintains Sweeper Truck in accordance with manufactures requirements
- Assists Facility Department as needed to perform various facility duties
- Communicates with supervisor and/or Facility Lead daily in order to give a updates on progress
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of State of Texas Driving laws
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Street Sweeping Equipment
- Intermediate skill and understanding of Microsoft Office products
- Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of Sweeping Truck to evaluate quality and/or performance
- Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
- Ability to safely drive a Sweeping Truck in addition to various facility maintenance vehicles
- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required, five years of experience preferred
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an air brake endorsement preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Travel:
- One night per week within 200 mile radius of primary based location
Physical Requirements:
- This position involves extended periods in a stationary position and frequently moves about inside and outside
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
- Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
- Noise level may be loud at times.
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment.
- Exposure to dust and small particles; applicable PPE must be worn to control exposure
