Description

Under the direction of the Community Services Supervisor and Program Coordinator assigned to the Senior Center or Veterans Memorial Center or other City facilities, Facility/Special Event Attendants are responsible for enforcing all facility related policies and procedures, providing assistance with facility set-up arrangements (tables, chairs, misc. equipment) during private and public rentals of City facilities.

This is an opportunity for someone seeking a flexible work schedule. Typical work schedule varies, approximately 5-20 hours per week depending on facility reservations. Shifts may include evening, weekend and holiday hours on a year-round basis. Work schedules are generally distributed to assigned employees on a biweekly basis. Number of hours assigned to each employee is contingent on the employees availability, level of training, overall work performance and number and type of facility reservations.

Wage: $16.97-$18.73/hr.

Status: Temporary part time, no benefits. Applicants will be screened according to most relevant experience for this position. Those most qualified will be invited to an individual or small group interview

Examples of Duties

  • Provides excellent customer service to the public and co-workers including responding to inquiries and resolving customer complaints in a prompt, effective, courteous manner.
  • Provides support and guidance to facility/equipment users to ensure proper use per City and/or Department policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and completes set up of facility equipment (tables, chairs, equipment) as assigned.
  • Interprets and enforces facility/equipment use policies and procedures with public and private users.
  • Records details related to events during set up, event time and clean up.
  • Responsible for checking in with renters before, during, and at the end of their event to ensure all decorating, use and safety guidelines are being followed.
  • Responds to and prepares required accident and incident reports according to established guidelines to ensure the proper health, safety and supervision of all participants using City facilities and equipment.
  • Unlocks/locks building.
  • Provides occasional custodial support such as re-stocking bathrooms, emptying trash, sweeping and mopping. In addition, custodial tasks may include sanitizing high touch surfaces (tables, chairs, door handles, etc) to meet current health standards.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled.

Typical Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Perform assigned duties independently and/or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use office equipment.
  • Knowledge of janitorial equipment and methods to perform minor cleaning
  • Ability to problem solve minor facility equipment issues and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays including July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Interpersonal skills, including patience, courtesy and understanding. Understand and respond appropriately to customer requests and address needs.
  • A valid Adult CPR and Basic First Aid certification or the ability to acquire within the first three (3) months of employment.

Staff should be prepared to work in various settings in a variety of city facilities. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This is an active position requiring the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.; verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with children and other staff; visual acuity to oversee projects, and make observations. Work is done both indoors and out, with exposure to heat, often over 100 degrees, sun, noise, dust, pollens and slip hazards when near water. Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid.
