About PACE: Philanthropists Gary and Mary West founded West Health with the mission of enabling seniors to successfully age in place with access to high-quality, affordable health and support services that preserve and protect their dignity, quality of life, and independence. The Gary and Mary West PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), affiliated with West Health (www.westhealth.org), is a non-profit that delivers medical, social, and behavioral services to the frail elderly to the North County of San Diego. This PACE center is entrepreneurial in nature and focuses on innovations and bringing new processes to the traditional PACE environment.

One Team One Mission

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the position is responsible for performing sanitation and maintenance duties at the center.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs housekeeping duties throughout the non-residential PACE Day Center.
  • Cleans (dust, dry mop, wet mop, sanitize, scrub, vacuum, etc.) all common areas according to facility procedures.
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks bathrooms.
  • Disposes of trash and waste, other materials in a safe manner.
  • Washes and folds laundry. Distributes clean linens and towels. Maintains a stocked cleaning cart with needed items.
  • Ensures grounds are clean and orderly.
  • Reports any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department.
  • Performs minor repairs on furniture, building, and equipment as needed and within ability.
  • Transports meals, durable equipment, or other items to participant's homes, as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and Company information.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of Company property.
  • Understands and follows written and verbal directions.
  • Understands proper use of Company equipment.
  • Communicates effectively with staff members through verbal and/or written means.
  • Will require use of personal vehicle.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Current driver license.
  • Proof of auto insurance.
  • Clean driving record.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral form) in a care setting with participants, families, staff.
  • Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work.
  • Familiar with Universal Precautions and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equiptment and supplies.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crawl, push, reach and carry, stand for extended periods of time while using tools; may be required to move furniture.
  • Ablility to respond productively and to handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.
  • Ability to detect odors and see spots and spills.
  • Ability to move housekeeping cart with cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to measure and use cleaning chemicals and solvents safely and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for caring for elderly.

Medical Clearance:

Employees must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
