Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and guide the development and planning of school construction projects and facilitate the process for developing new facilities and executing school facility projects.
Direct and coordinate assignments of design team of outside architects/engineers/contractors and conduct monthly progress meetings with design team members to meet all required project bid dates.
Develop plans for new facilities per the Building Program meeting all requirements, schedules, and budgets.
Work with local architects, engineers and third-party plan reviewers on building construction and site plans to obtain timely work permits from city, county, and state officials as required.
Coordinate with property owners, land appraisers, surveyors, board attorneys, and others who are involved in purchasing property as necessary to purchase land and/or easements needed for Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) building projects as directed.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff in the preparation, design, and approval of all school facility projects per the GaDOE Capital Outlay regulations.
Coordinate with GaDOE staff to prepare, submit, and track annual Capital Outlay applications.
Work with GaDOE staff to analyze and calculate current facility capacity information and enrollment projections in order to accurately forecast GCPS facility needs.
Meet with Facility and Operations (F&O) staff to prepare and submit required five year facility plans for facilities as directed.
Work with F&O staff in developing annual applications for Capital Outlay funding.
Coordinate with F&O staff to produce and update the GCPS guide specifications for construction.
Coordinate with F&O, schools, and central office staff in developing and coordinating special programs and facility needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
