AUXILIARY POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Facility Maintenance and Inspection Coordinator

Reports to: Assistant Director of Facilities

Evaluation: Annual

Work Schedule: 261 days

Exempt Salaried Status

SUMMARY: In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities, coordinate the day-to-day operations of the maintenance personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist in the evaluation of the job performance of maintenance employees and groundskeepers.
  • Assist in the evaluation of mechanical systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Assess building systems to plan proactive work assignments and project schedules.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules in FMX Software.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
  • Assist with the building management systems at all facilities.
  • Works with facilities personnel on proper operation of all systems and equipment.
  • Oversee custodial "walk-through" audits of all the district's facilities to ensure the efficiency of operations, an optimum education environment, and compliance with the district's energy policy.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper operation of the electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain the corporation's MSDS manuals and conduct safety and chemical use training for maintenance employees.
  • Assist with the Administration of OSHA and IDEM regulations related to facilities to ensure corporation compliance.
  • Monitor weather and coordinate snow removal by directing maintenance personnel to plow if required.
  • Assist with the coordination of the snow removal for all the facilities' parking lots and drives.
  • Assist with and respond to emergency calls.
  • Follow other directives from the Director of Facilities and Assistant Director of Facilities to improve services to the students and patrons of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Prefer post-secondary training and certification in construction trades and management with an emphasis on physical plant facilities and equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Proficiency with computer skills with an emphasis on direct digital energy management systems.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of state and local construction rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary to interact in a professional manner to project a positive image that is consistent with P-H-M's philosophy.
  • Good time management skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize work and give exceptional attention to detail.
  • Willingness to improve and/or develop job-related skills.
  • Willingness to obtain a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and other certifications as requested.
  • Must demonstrate the importance of confidentiality.
  • Excellent work habits, attendance record, and successfully completed and passed all criminal history and child abuse clearances
  • Shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
