Facilities Technician

The Process Equipment Technician will support lab and facilities operations at the Alnylam Kendall Campus on the weekend shift. This encompasses a wide range of facilities and engineering maintenance lab equipment, & utilities. Responsibilities include execution of corrective and preventive maintenance, operation / monitoring of systems, equipment, and programs in a manner that ensures our facility maintains GLP compliance. This position will ensure sustained operation of the process and utility systems with minimal interruptions. The Facilities Technician supports the facilities team and contractors to ensure timely on-schedule completion of corrective, general, and preventive maintenance as well as weekend projects. All duties are performed with the intent to ensure operational capabilities are sustained with emphasis on quality of work and customer service. This position is onsite and will be primarily located at our Kendall Square campus in Cambridge, MA. This position will support weekend shift coverage, with shift schedule being Thursday Sunday 7:00am- 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support of operations including the operation and maintenance of utility systems, solvent delivery systems, and process equipment.
  • Responsible for alarm response and remediation as well as trouble call triage.
  • Start-up / shutdown and operations of the various equipment and systems within the Kendall sites.
  • To guide and ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to EH&S and Facilities guidelines and policies.
  • Support installation, repair, and troubleshooting for a wide range of equipment and instrumentation used for all functions at the Kendall Labs.
  • Perform scheduled, corrective, and emergency maintenance on process, lab support equipment, and various facility systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for the operational readiness of the equipment, working closely with peers ensuring deficiencies are resolved and complete.
  • Capable of full participation in an onsite Chemical Spill Emergency Response team including being able to utilize respiratory protection and being able to successfully complete required medical clearances to utilize personal protective equipment while performing strenuous activities.
  • As required, support 24/7 operations of the plant which may include shift coverage support as required
  • All other duties as assigned by Facilities team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years' experience or a bachelor's degree and relevant experience within a GMP facilities organization in biotech or pharmaceutical industries
  • Direct experience with performing and overseeing maintenance activities within a cGMP environment.
  • Must possess a fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment and demonstrate basic laboratory experience and understanding of GLP's.
  • Ability to work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgement and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication, and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well with a team and capable of providing direction and support other team members
  • Proven ability to manage simultaneous tasks, work under pressure, track and monitor progress of multiple projects and follow through to ensure goal achievement.
  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgement and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Capable of lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, and carrying equipment of different dimensions and weights and utilizing equipment to assist in material handling activities.
  • Capable of working in environments requiring use of increased personal protective equipment including chemical containment suits and respiratory protection.
  • Valid Driver's license. Travel between Alnylam sites as required.
  • Carry a mobile device and be on-call 24/7 to support operations and emergencies.

U.S. Pay Range $72,300.00 - $97,900.00
