FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

All Saints Presbyterian Church | Austin, TexasFull-time | Non-exempt (overtime eligible) | Reports to Facilities Manager

OVERALL MISSION

To serve Christ and His Church by keeping the church campus in tip-top shape.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Facilities Technician serves as the engine of execution on the facilities team. Working alongside the Facilities Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring that facilities tasks—whether routine maintenance, skilled trade work, project management, event support, or building upkeep—get done with consistency, quality, and follow-through. This role brings meaningful technical aptitude to the team: the ability to self-perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work at an apprentice or journeyman level reduces the church's dependence on outside contractors and delivers real cost savings for the ministry. The Facilities Technician is a self-starter with strong Tenacity who takes ownership of assigned work, seeing tasks through to completion whether by self-performing them or by coordinating and overseeing contracted labor and vendors. This role serves as a key bridge between strategic facilities oversight and hands-on campus care.

HOURS

Approximately 40 hours/week, including some weekend work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Attend and contribute to semi-monthly Full Staff meetings for formation and alignment.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly Operations Staff meetings.
  • Work as assigned to support Sunday worship and ministry programming.
  • Maintain devotion to Christ through regular participation in the Formation Practices of the church.

Specific

  • Take ownership of facilities work orders and maintenance tasks from assignment through completion, self-performing or coordinating contracted work as appropriate.
  • Self-perform skilled maintenance tasks including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs at a journeyman level, reducing reliance on outside contractors.
  • Exercise sound judgment in determining when to self-perform versus escalate to a licensed specialist; document decisions and outcomes accordingly.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships for routine and project-based work: solicit bids, schedule work, and supervise on-site contractor activity. Verify quality of completed work before sign-off.
  • Track open and recurring maintenance needs using the eSPACE work order system; provide regular status updates to the Facilities Manager.
  • Proactively identify facilities issues during routine walkthroughs and initiate corrective action.
  • Stay on top of maintenance items and multi-step projects.
  • Perform and/or coordinate routine building maintenance tasks including minor repairs, HVAC filter changes, lighting, plumbing, and general upkeep.
  • Assist in keeping the campus grounds tidy.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Steward to execute custodial and janitorial duties. Ensure soaps, paper products, and custodial supplies are stocked and replenished throughout the week.
  • See to it that set-up and tear-down duties are completed as needed for on-campus activities, worship services, and community events.
  • Serve as on-site building support for evening and weekend activities as assigned.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in managing building logistics for community events (room configuration, access, and facility readiness).
  • Maintain supplies inventory for office, kitchen, janitorial, and maintenance needs. Track stock levels and initiate reorders in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries to the campus.

  • Proven hands-on experience in building maintenance, including self-performing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work.
  • Able to remain calm and consistent amid crises and competing priorities.
  • Able to take direction and carry out tasks as requested in a timely manner.
