Facilities & Shop Support – Retail Service Department

Pay Range: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

The Facilities & Shop Support position helps keep the retail service department clean, organized, safe, and professional. This role supports the daily operation of the shop by maintaining the building, technician work areas, service lot, trash areas, and surrounding property.

This is a hands-on support position that includes shop cleanup, light janitorial work, lot maintenance, forklift operation, and assisting technicians or managers with moving equipment, parts, engines, transmissions, and other materials as needed.

The ideal person for this role is dependable, willing to help wherever needed, takes pride in keeping things clean and organized, and can work well around a busy service department.

Key Responsibilities

• Help maintain a clean and organized retail service shop.
• Perform general janitorial and facility upkeep duties throughout the service department.
• Empty trash cans and dispose of shop trash, boxes, pallets, and debris properly.
• Keep technician stalls, walkways, and shared shop areas clean and safe.
• Sweep, clean, and organize assigned shop and building areas as needed.
• Help maintain the service lot, parking areas, trash areas, and surrounding property.
• Pick up trash, remove weeds, and help keep the outside property presentable.
• Safely operate a forklift to move engines, transmissions, pallets, tires, equipment, and other heavy items.
• Assist technicians and managers with moving parts, equipment, and materials when needed.
• Help keep storage areas, shop supplies, and common areas organized.
• Report spills, safety concerns, damaged equipment, or maintenance issues to management.
• Assist with special cleanup projects, property maintenance, and other assigned tasks.
• Follow dealership safety rules and work carefully around vehicles, technicians, customers, and equipment.

Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, and willing to work.
• Able to take direction and complete tasks without constant supervision.
• Comfortable performing cleaning, maintenance, and shop support duties.
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift or be willing to become forklift certified.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Ability to work around vehicles, shop equipment, and a busy service environment.
• Previous experience in janitorial, maintenance, warehouse, groundskeeping, automotive, or shop support work is helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and carry items throughout the day.
• Ability to lift and move items safely, with assistance or equipment when needed.
• Ability to perform physical work including sweeping, cleaning, trash removal, light property maintenance, and shop organization.
• Ability to safely work around vehicles, forklifts, tools, shop equipment, and moving machinery.
