Description
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Facilities Physical Plant Technician I. This is a full-time, union, non-exempt, and benefits-eligible position will work Monday through Friday, on-campus, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Please note that based on our Classified collective bargaining agreement, the Oregon Pay Equity Act requirements, and CCC's internal equity review process, the appointment will be made between step 1 ($22.95) and step 4 ($25.01) tied to Grade V (salary schedule link here).

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Assists in the maintenance, operation and repair of institutional HVAC systems, fire detection and protection systems, boilers, chillers, utility distribution systems, fan systems, and Building Automation Systems under the guidance of others. Provides support related to infrastructure systems such as plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems while developing foundational knowledge and technical skills. Participates in tasks related to routine preventative maintenance, basic mechanical repairs, and support for system operations such as assisting with the replacement of pumps, pipes and control components (both pneumatic and digital), to help maintain the functionality of college buildings, equipment and grounds across multiple campus sites.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED, plus additional applied trades training and at least one year's experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
Familiarity with general maintenance and repair methods, operation of related equipment, and applicable safety and health regulations.
Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES:
Driver's license valid in the State of Oregon.
Enrollment into the LME Apprenticeship Program upon completion of the probationary period.
May require First Aid/CPR certification, articulated boom lift, scissor lift and forklift certifications and respirator protection training and fitting testing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position requires regular (60-80%) ability to use dexterity and fine motor skills assemble, build or repair machines or other objects.
The position requires moderate (40-60%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work require high degree of speed, agility, hand eye coordination and equipment operation.
The work environment has regular hazards or obstacles (40-60%). There may be some personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are somewhat uncomfortable, with moderate (40-60%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may require regular responsibility for driving.

Paid Time Off:
Vacation Leave- 88 hours/ year (after probation)
Sick Leave- 8 hours/ month

Summer Schedule:
Summer Schedule is from the first week of summer term through Labor Day weekend. During Summer Schedule, the College shifts to a 4-day, 9-hour per day workweek (36 hours). The College is closed Fridays. Classified employees receive their regular pay during summer schedule.
