Role Summary:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and improvement of all church buildings, grounds, and physical assets. This includes oversight of daily maintenance, facility projects, small remodeling efforts, and facility needs for special events. The Facilities Manager ensures that the church campus remains safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for all attendees, staff, and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facility Maintenance & Operations
    • Oversee all preventive and routine maintenance of the church's buildings, systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and grounds.
    • Schedule and supervise contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
    • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; ensure timely procurement of necessary materials.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify repair needs and safety hazards.
  2. Project & Remodel Oversight
    • Lead and manage small-scale remodeling and renovation projects, from planning to execution.
    • Coordinate with church leadership on design, budgeting, and scheduling of facility projects.
    • Ensure all work is up to code and complies with safety and regulatory standards.
  3. Weekend & Event Coordination
    • Coordinate facility set-up and breakdown for special events (e.g, conferences, holiday services).
    • Ensure all event spaces are prepared, clean, and equipped according to event needs.
  4. Team Leadership & Administration
    • Recruit, train, and manage maintenance staff and volunteers.
    • Lead, schedule, and supervise facilities and custodial staff (paid and volunteer).
    • Develop and manage the annual facilities budget in alignment with church financial policies.
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, work orders, and completed projects.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in facilities management, construction, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with building systems, general construction, and custodial operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • A heart for ministry and alignment with the mission and values of Forward City Church.
