Our client is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and maintenance of warehouse and distribution facilities in Chester, VA. This is a hands-on role responsible for a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the facility.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will help maintain the building, perform basic repairs, assist with simple machinery maintenance, and support the overall operation of the facility. Training will be provided on certain equipment repairs, including bag sealers. This position is open due to an internal promotion. The previous employee in the role was promoted, and the employee before them retired.
What You'll Do
Perform general facility maintenance and repair tasks
Complete minor plumbing repairs
Perform basic electrical work
Paint and complete drywall repairs
Replace ceiling tiles
Hang doors and apply caulk as needed
Assist with basic machinery repairs, including bag sealers
Travel between local facilities as needed
Maintain a safe and organized work environment
What We're Looking For
Valid driver's license
Reliable transportation
Experience with general handyman tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, or drywall repair
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Comfortable working on ladders up to 6 feet during the temporary period and up to 25 feet after hire
Trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated
Strong teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
Professional building or facilities maintenance experience
Experience with simple machinery repairs
Experience with drywall patching or door installation
Work Environment
Active warehouse and distribution environment
Travel between facilities may be required during the workday
Facilities are located within approximately 5-10 minutes of one another
