Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Chicago, IL Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $21 – $24 per hour Company vehicle provided for travel between locations.
Youth Outreach Services (YOS) is looking for a reliable and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and operations of our facilities across the Chicago area.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, or handyman work who enjoys working with tools, fixing things, and staying active throughout the day.
The position requires traveling between multiple YOS locations using a company vehicle.
Responsibilities for Facilities Maintenance Technician
Perform general building maintenance and basic facility repairs
Travel between approximately 10 YOS locations using a company vehicle
Replace light bulbs and batteries in exit signs
Perform basic repairs on doors, handles, cabinets, and furniture
Replace blinds, ceiling tiles, and small building fixtures
Handle minor plumbing issues (example: backed-up toilet)
Assemble, repair, and remove office furniture
Install and remove window AC units seasonally
Hang pictures, bulletin boards, and signage
Monitor vendors during scheduled service visits
Deliver internal mail and supplies between locations
Purchase and distribute supplies such as water cases
Assist with trash removal and facility clean-up when needed
Maintain company vehicles (oil changes and service visits)
Make copies of facility keys for staff access
Ensure building entrances are salted during winter weather
Complete monthly fire and tornado safety drills
Provide regular updates on building conditions and potential maintenance needs
The Facilities Maintenance Technician may occasionally assist with emergency maintenance needs after hours or on weekends.
Qualifications for Facilities Maintenance Technician
High school diploma or GED
Valid Illinois driver's license (required)
Experience in maintenance, facilities, building maintenance, or handyman work preferred
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
Ability to safely use basic maintenance tools
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
