The City of Hillsboro is seeking two Facilities Maintenance Specialist who specializes in the HVAC trade industry. In this role you will work independently and alongside a team on a wide range of activities, such as new installations, replacements, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance. As a full service City we are handling a wide range of projects and repairs to ensure our facilities are running efficiently.
This team is currently comprised of 4 team members. We have two facility maintenance specialist (mechanical and controls), one Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician (Preventative Maintenance) and a HVAC Mechanical Supervisor who oversees the team. We pride ourselves on the work we perform and are passionate about maintaining these systems that help support the employees that work within the facilities.
This position offers flexibility to a work / life balance with 4-10 schedule. While you will have regular tasks and duties assigned, there is the ability to prioritize the manner in which they are scheduled and performed.
Current/Upcoming Projects:
• Facility Shutdowns - Perform maintenance on equipment during shutdowns. • RTU Replacements - Assist and perform work that takes place across city owned sites. • Building Control Replacement - Assist and perform work that takes place across city owned sites. • Continual work on building our Asset Management system for our Equipment. • Weekly Boiler Checks, inspections. • Inspections on Mechanical Systems.
Responsibilities
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform specialized maintenance and/or operational activities in assigned area of responsibility. Responsibilities as assigned may include providing customer service; performing routine maintenance and repair of specialized equipment, infrastructure, and/or related items; operating motorized vehicles and equipment; inputting data into computerized systems; and preparing logs and records.
This classification is distinguished from that of the Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician by the specialized nature of the maintenance work being completed requiring the incumbent to hold an electrical license.

Examples of Essential Work
Performs specialized maintenance, installation, repair, cleaning, and/or preparation of equipment, systems, infrastructure, and/or other items related to assigned area.
Operates motorized vehicles and equipment, machinery, and/or tools in the repair, maintenance, and support of assigned area.
Performs repairs of specialized equipment and works with and provides directions to contractors.
Maintains and repairs building automation systems including digital controllers, lighting controllers, HVAC systems, RTUs, exhaust systems, VRF, VAVs, furnaces, mini splits, boiler systems, compressors, unit heaters, ice machines, commercial kitchen and laundry equipment and graphical user interface.
Sets up and monitors assigned work area; prepares site and equipment for necessary repairs.
Evaluates work and equipment requirements; initiates maintenance actions or notifies/submits work request for appropriate services required; purchases maintenance supplies as needed and within applicable guidelines.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Acceptable Experience and Training
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of commercial maintenance and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Driver's License and safe driving record;Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation;HVAC Technician Certification;Limited Maintenance Electrician license issued by the State of Oregon Building Codes, or equivalent; LEB preferred but not required;EPA 608 State of Oregon Certification State Oregon Brazing Cert
