Overview
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing and supporting discipline engineering work performed internally and by contractors to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through strong technical expertise, effective communication, and collaboration across engineering, operations, and other functions. In addition to technical capability, the successful candidate demonstrates strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective coordination across teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Review and evaluate discipline engineering work performed by internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Facilitate consistent execution of discipline engineering and design processes aligned with team goals, objectives, and procedures.
Ensure accurate, timely communication regarding engineering activities, progress, risks, and issues with internal teams and other functions.
Support a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to support facility reliability and performance.
Serve as Area Engineer supporting operations for a specific plant area.
Work collaboratively with Facilities Engineers, Site Contacts, and Lead Engineers to support assigned operations areas while gaining exposure to other areas of the plant.
Conduct monthly facilities surveillance, tracking and reporting area‑driven KPIs.
Provide engineering support for changes, repairs, and alterations involving:
Piping Systems
Static Equipment
Rotating Equipment
Pressure Vessels and Tanks
Support plant shutdown activities, including preparation, execution, and post‑shutdown review from an engineering standpoint.
Participate in and lead risk assessments, including:
HAZOPs
Hazard Hunts
Critical operatating parameter reviews
Lead incident investigations, including process safety and downtime‑related events.
Support opportunity management, including identification of improvement opportunities and development of project scopes.
Perform risk assessments for:
New facilities
Existing facilities
Closure of mitigating action items
Lead performance testing and plant‑based trials.
Develop and maintain operating guidelines for facilities.
Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers and peers.
