Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available as the Facilities and Safety Department Secretary beginning as soon as possible. This is a full-time, 12-month position (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.). This position is Classification B22 on the Educational Secretaries Association salary schedule.
Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Safety, the Facilities and Safety Department Secretary provides advanced administrative and operational support for the department by independently coordinating departmental processes and workflow activities. The position maintains specialized records and reporting systems related to health, safety, and departmental operations, and compiles information to support planning and decision-making.
Serves as a central point of contact for school sites, custodial staff, vendors, and district departments by prioritizing communications, responding to inquiries, and directing information to appropriate personnel. Responsibilities include coordinating substitute custodial coverage, assists in maintaining health and safety records, and developing and formatting safety manuals, training materials, and other departmental publications, as well as performing a variety of administrative support functions requiring organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- At least 3 years previous secretarial experience with demonstrated ability to multitask
- Learn, use and apply specialized programs, applications, and electronic reporting formats/reports employed by the district
- Skilled in written and oral communication skills
- Skilled in customer service and orientation
- Perform job assignments with attention to detail, precision and accuracy
- Learn and understand the programs, department functions and rules, regulations or guidelines that impact department administrative support functions of the office

Salary ranges:
$22.65 - $24.45 per hour.
