Part-Time Summer Facilities & Grounds Assistant – Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Part-Time Summer Facilities & Grounds Assistant provides seasonal support to the Facilities & Grounds team during the summer months. This role focuses primarily on groundskeeping, basic maintenance assistance, campus set-ups, and custodial support to help ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained campus during periods of increased outdoor activity and campus projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with routine groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, watering, and general landscape upkeep.

- Help maintain walkways, parking lots, athletic fields, and campus green spaces.

- Assist with seasonal projects such as planting, mulching, and general campus beautification.

- Support basic maintenance activities such as painting, cleaning, organizing, and light repairs under supervision.

- Assist with custodial support tasks, including cleaning, sanitizing, and room or event setup/teardown.

- Help move furniture, supplies, and equipment for summer programs and events.

- Operate basic hand tools and grounds equipment after training.

- Follow safety procedures and report issues promptly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

- Willingness to learn grounds and facilities tasks.

- Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions. Some indoor work as needed.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS

Part-time, seasonal summer position. Typical hours range from 15–30 per week.
