The Facilities Manager and Campus Safety Manager coordinates daily facilities and security operations to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. The position manages a facility inventory/asset database and supports daily campus needs by working closely with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors, while helping maintain compliance with safety regulations and institutional policies. This combined departmental position is responsible for database management, supervises team members, supports critical building systems, works shifts at any assigned campus location, supports training initiatives, and accepts duties as assigned.Intermediate Excel skills, UAS/Drone certification, safety awareness, detail oriented, positive communication skills, adaptable, orderly, with an emphasis on customer service.Help coordinate maintenance and repair of classrooms, labs, offices, and common areasAssist with the facility inventory/asset database managementSupport critical building systems with emphasis on HVACMonitor campus buildings and grounds for cleanliness, functionality, and safetyManage work orders and respond to service requests from faculty and staffCoordinate room setups for classes, events, and campus activitiesLiaise with vendors, contractors, and custodial teamsSupport visitor management and front desk security proceduresMonitor security systems (CCTV, alarms) and report suspicious activityAssist campus security or public safety officers with incident documentationConduct routine building checks to ensure safety and securitySupport compliance with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, campus policies)Assist with emergency preparedness plans (evacuation, lockdown, severe weather)Help coordinate safety drills and training for staff and studentsIdentify hazards and coordinate corrective actionsAssist with records for maintenance, inspections, and incident reportsProvide customer service to students, faculty, and visitors regarding facilities issuesAssist with scheduling and logistics for campus eventsSupport audits, accreditation reviews, and compliance documentationAccept duties as assigned and performs any other duties to drive the College's Vision, to fulfil the College's Mission, and to abide by the College's ValuesEducationAssociate's Degree or higherExperience2–4 years of experience in facilities, security, or campus operationsExperience with commercial HVAC systemsExperience working in an educational environment is a plusKnowledge of building systems and basic security proceduresBasic troubleshooting and problem‑solving skillsKnowledge of NFPA 101 Life Safety CodeFamiliarity with campus safety practices and emergency responseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequiredAbility to work closely and compatibly with multiple internal and external partners, including HR, IT, Enrollment Management, academic department/program heads, other key staff, law enforcement, first responders, vendors, and contractors.Must demonstrate knowledge of HVAC systems in a commercial environmentAbility to communicate in a professional and candid manner with students, employees, and the public regarding sensitive, urgent and emergent matters.Ability to prioritize work projects and schedule security guards into appropriate shifts at all campus locations.Ability to resolve problems in a timely fashion, using good reason and judgment.Ability to analyze, de‑scalate, and diffuse difficult situations.Ability to adapt to changing concerns and needs of the campus environment.Must demonstrate knowledge of industry safety and security standards, and how to apply these directly to institutional needs.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel. Ability to utilize the internet for research and investigative purposes. Database management experience preferred.Ability to pass a criminal background check.Ability to be on call and respond to emergencies during non‑duty hours, and report for duty during inclement weather as an “Essential Employee.” Incumbent must agree in writing to this provision.As this position is classified ”protective service” in nature, the incumbent must be willing to submit to an initial and random drug screening while employed in this role by Blue Ridge CTC .Licensure/Certification RequiredMust possess active or obtain and maintain active certification in CPR, Basic First Aid and AED.Must possess active, or obtain within a reasonable period of time of hire OSHA 10-30 certification.Must have 2-4 years of HVAC experience.Must possess a UAS/Drone certification.Must possess a valid driver's license and have transportation to report to any campus location as assigned especially in an emergency event.Physical/Work DemandsMust be on call to respond to emergencies at any time of day or night. Must be able to stand, walk and sit for long periods.
