Fabrication Shop Supervisor - Metal Fabrication and Commercial Construction - Base Salary to 125k/year - Warren, MI
  • Our client is a growing specialty fabrication and construction organization serving commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure markets throughout the United States. The company specializes in custom metal fabrication and complex construction projects requiring close collaboration between estimating, engineering, production, and project management teams.
  • Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Fabrication Shop Supervisor to oversee daily fabrication shop operations, production scheduling, inventory, shipping and receiving, equipment maintenance, and shop personnel. This position is responsible for ensuring fabrication projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and supporting collaboration between production, estimating, engineering, and operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to understand fabrication scope, production requirements, schedules, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead day-to-day fabrication shop operations, coordinating production activities from material receipt through final shipment.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute production schedules that align with customer commitments and project deadlines.
  • Supervise fabrication personnel and provide leadership, coaching, scheduling, performance management, hiring, and employee retention.
  • Coordinate workflow between fabrication, machining, sawing, shipping, and operations to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor work-in-progress and production status using Monday.Com software.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, fabricated components, consumables, and shop supplies.
  • Prepare purchase orders and coordinate procurement of materials, tooling, and fabrication supplies.
  • Oversee monthly inventory counts and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and repairs for fabrication equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure shipping, receiving, packaging, and material handling processes are completed accurately.
  • Prepare shipping documentation for materials being sent to outside vendors for finishing, painting, processing, or delivery.
  • Maintain weekly payroll reporting and provide accurate information to Human Resources.
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, project management, and operations teams throughout each project lifecycle.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive fabrication environment while meeting production schedules and customer expectations.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in the metal fabrication industry.
  • 3+ years of experience supervising or managing fabrication shop personnel.
  • Experience overseeing daily fabrication shop operations and production scheduling.
  • Experience managing shop workflow, inventory, shipping and receiving, and equipment maintenance.
  • Basic AutoCAD knowledge.
  • Ability to analyze production requirements, solve operational challenges, and coordinate multiple fabrication projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading fabrication teams while maintaining production schedules and quality standards.

Compensation:
  • Base salary in the 85k - 125k/year range.
