PURPOSE OF JOB
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.  A Fabrication Manager plays a critical role in aligning the Fabrication Department with organizational goals, optimizing production processes, and maintaining high standard of safety, quality, and efficiency.
 
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Oversee daily operations of the Fabrication facility, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
•Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules to optimize workflow and meet quality requirements.
•Coordinate with engineering and design teams to review and execute drawings and specifications.
•Manage materials and supplies, ensuring cost control and quality compliance.
•Implement and maintain safety protocols and training programs to ensure a safe working environment.
•Leads by example and will at times take the wheel to show Team Leads practical ways to execute difficult tasks.
•Monitor and maintain fabrication equipment, scheduling maintenance and upgrades to minimize downtime.
•Lead, train, and manage employees, including performance management, problem-solving, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
•Research and implement new fabrication techniques and technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
•Review parts shortages with production, scheduling, and purchasing to adjust schedules as necessary.
•Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety.
•Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing resources based on production schedule needs.
•Set daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
•Ensure that our high standards of housekeeping are maintained.
•Attend production meetings and other meetings as required.
•Will participate in 30, 60, 90-day and year-end reviews for your team members.
•Serves as a key communicator between team leaders, employees and management to ensure effective communication.
•Identifies issues in efficiency and recommends improvements.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•High School Diploma – an advanced technical or engineering degree is a plus.
•3-5 years proven experience as a supervisor or similar lead role.  Prior experience managing a fabrication department is preferred.
•The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively relate with team members and management.
•Excellent organizational skills and profound ability to schedule multiple activities and resources for efficient and effective utilization.
•Strong ability to motivate, lead, and give direction to team members.
•Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in the written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
•Exhibit good time-management skills.
•Exceptional ability to read, understand, and interpret production blueprints accurately.
•Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
•Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
•Familiarity with fabrication equipment, welding, and manufacturing processes.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normally working on the plant floor and occasionally involved in manual labor. Will at times be exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, vibration, welding sparks, grease, oil, and diesel fuel.
