Description
We are seeking a Senior F5 Load Balancer Engineer to support complex, large-scale initiatives within a financial services environment. This role requires strong expertise in F5 Networks and VMware AVI, along with a solid background in enterprise networking, application infrastructure, and security. The engineer will design, implement, and support load-balancing solutions while partnering closely with application teams, network and security engineers, lines of business, and external vendors.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience delivering high- and low-level designs, implementing and troubleshooting production environments, and providing Level 3 support for critical services. Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Perl, Java, JavaScript) are essential, as is the ability to understand application flows across underlying networks. This role also includes maintaining design and operational documentation, supporting capacity planning and performance monitoring, assisting with platform lifecycle activities, and collaborating on vendor engagements, certifications, and feature enhancements.
Experience with network automation, scripting, and programming in enterprise environments
Strong expertise in load balancing technologies, with hands-on experience supporting F5 Networks and VMware AVI environments
Strong foundation in network engineering, architecture, and troubleshooting
Solid understanding of network and application security, including application flows and underlying network dependencies
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Java, and JavaScript
Experience contributing to the design of application infrastructure integration solutions and supporting technical standards and best practices
Experience partnering with internal stakeholders and lines of business to gather and translate detailed technical requirements
Experience developing high-level designs for load balancing infrastructure and related changes
Hands-on experience creating low-level designs and configuration details for load balancing solutions
Hands-on experience implementing solutions or providing clear handoff documentation and technical guidance to implementation teams
Proven ability to provide Level 3 production support for complex operational issues and contribute to technical problem resolution
Strong documentation skills, including end-to-end load balancing design and architecture artifacts
Experience establishing capacity thresholds, workload management plans, and performance monitoring practices
Experience collaborating with external vendors, including F5, to resolve chronic issues, defects, and enhancement requests
Experience supporting feature enhancements, code certification efforts, and lifecycle management for load balancing platforms
