EXTENDED RESOURCE AIDE
Location:Lincoln Middle School
Terms of Employment: Nine Months; Full-Time or Part-Time as Assigned
Reports To: Building Principal and/or Certified Special Education Staff
Salary Classification: As per Current Support Salary Schedule
PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of certified staff, assists students receiving extended resource and special education services in achieving academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and functional goals. Provides instructional reinforcement, behavioral support, and supervision for students in individual, small-group, and classroom settings while supporting a safe, structured, and inclusive educational environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists students individually and in small groups with academic instruction in reading, writing, math, communication, life skills, and other educational areas as directed by certified staff.
- Reinforces instructional concepts, accommodations, and modifications outlined in student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assists in implementing behavior intervention plans, social-emotional supports, and classroom management strategies.
- Supports students with organization, task completion, transitions, self-regulation, and daily routines.
- Provides supervision and support throughout the school day in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, buses, field trips, vocational settings, community-based instruction, and other educational environments as assigned.
- Assists students with emotional, behavioral, communication, and social needs while promoting positive peer interactions and independence.
- Supports students with disabilities and varying levels of need in maintaining safety, participation, and engagement in school activities.
- Assists certified staff with preparing instructional materials, adaptive supports, visual schedules, educational resources, and classroom organization.
- Assists with data collection, progress monitoring, behavior documentation, and record keeping as directed by certified staff.
- Assists with technology-based instruction and adaptive equipment use as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district operations in accordance with district policy and federal/state regulations.
- Follows all district safety procedures, policies, and regulations related to student supervision and support services.
- May assist students with mobility, feeding, hygiene, toileting, lifting, positioning, personal care, and other physical support needs depending on assignment.
- Participates in required district training and professional development activities.
- Assists with vocational, transition, and functional life-skills activities as appropriate to student programming.
- Accompanies and supervises students during field trips, community activities, and school-sponsored events as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assists guidance staff, pupil services staff, nursing staff, related service providers, and administration as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS
- Works in classroom, school, vocational, community-based, and outdoor environments.
- May be required to assist with lifting, positioning, transferring, mobility support, and physical assistance for students.
- May be exposed to challenging behaviors, crisis intervention situations, and bodily fluids.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and assisting students throughout the workday.

QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of college-level coursework (48 credits) or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment preferred or required based on assignment
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities or special needs preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification may be required depending on assignment
- Ability to complete district-required training programs
