Job Title: Experienced Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist (Server Team Member)
Status: Full-time Professional
Annual Salary Range: $99,900 - $174,500
*Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Job Summary
As a Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist at BPMI, you will be in a project-oriented position with primary responsibilities in deployment, fleet support, and troubleshooting of Propulsion Plant Area Network (PPLAN) servers, network, and software functional issues. This position also includes the oversight, development, and life cycle management of PPLAN servers.
Essential Duties:
Provide written technical support to end users to troubleshoot and resolve network or software functional issues.
Conduct independent verification of operation and troubleshooting procedures.
Perform project oversight of the installation of network hardware and software products at end destinations.
Research and prepare written technical recommendations on network hardware and software products.
Develop system design and performance specifications, test requirements, and security implementation of servers and other network and communication hardware and software.
Perform project oversight and follow of supplier design, supplier testing, and supplier procedure development.
Review, verify, and approve supplier design submittals including procedures for installation, operations, and troubleshooting of servers and other network hardware and software products.
Support implementation and documentation of cybersecurity compliance with government requirements.
Communicate extensively internally as well as with external customer and supplier personnel.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or closely related degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance. All qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability of effective written and oral communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities is strongly desired.
Experience with any of the following is preferred:
Support of IT networks
Virtualization (VMWare)
Network communication architecture
Backup and recovery software methodologies
Network administration
Configuration and use of network firewalls
Knowledge of network hardware
Configuration and support of wireless networks
Working knowledge of cybersecurity compliance
