Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced People Relations Professional / Investigator to join our Human Resources team! The successful candidate will provide professional support in people relations and special projects. The People Relations Professional will be responsible for responding to employee concerns in a timely, objective, fair and thorough manner.  The People Relations Professional will assess the issue and determine next steps.  The People Relations Professional will lead the investigation which will include planning the investigation, conducting the interviews, gathering evidence, analyzing investigative findings, engage with subject matter experts, write a thorough investigative report and will report out the findings to the decision makers.  The People Relations Professional plays a critical role in creating a great place to work by instilling confidence in the managers and employees that they are unbiased and neutral in responding to employee relations issues and concerns. Additional opportunities include:

 

  • Conducting investigations that have varying levels of difficulty and sensitivity.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate account of investigation with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents into the case management system.
  • Assuming ownership of cases assigned and monitors the progress of cases to ensure timely resolution.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

 

Additional Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience producing professional reports
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex issues
  • Demonstrated experience in solving issues and understanding compliance standards

Preferred Skills

  • Strong investigation skills and a comprehensive knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, NLRA, and FLSA
  • Ability to collaborate and maintain excellent working relationships by providing regular status updates to key stakeholders and maintaining contact until case has been closed
  • Experience utilizing a professional and customer-focused approach to handling customer inquiries
  • Demonstration of critical thinking and problem solving to address and resolve issues

Pay Range

$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
