TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Fire Alarm Technicians for a respected client working on San Antonio-area commercial and institutional projects. If you know NFPA 72 inside and out and can handle installs, programming, testing, and leadership this is your lane.

About the Opportunity
You ll be working on critical life safety systems across healthcare, education, and government facilities in the San Antonio market where precision, code compliance, and system reliability matter every day. This is a high-impact role for technicians who can own projects from rough-in to final acceptance.

What You ll Do
Install, terminate, program, and troubleshoot addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
Perform system start-up, commissioning, and acceptance testing per NFPA 72 standards
Interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and device layouts to determine circuit routing and device placement
Conduct voltage drop calculations, battery calculations, and circuit integrity verification
Install and configure:
o Control panels (Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Silent Knight, etc.)
o Initiating devices (smoke, heat, duct detectors, pull stations)
o Notification appliances (horn/strobes, speakers, voice evac systems)
Troubleshoot ground faults, opens, shorts, and communication failures
Lead small to mid-size crews and coordinate daily workflow on job sites
Complete as-builts, test reports, and inspection documentation
Interface with AHJs, inspectors, and other trades to ensure compliance and project success

Qualifications Who You Are
5+ years of commercial fire alarm installation and service experience
Texas FAL (Fire Alarm License) required
Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC Article 760, and local codes
Proven experience with:
o System programming and panel terminations
o Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics
o Reading and interpreting construction documents
Solid understanding of:
o DC circuits, series/parallel circuits, and Ohm s Law
o Device spacing, placement, and system design concepts
Experience leading crews and managing workflow on active job sites
Familiar with inspection, testing, and certification processes
NICET certification is a strong plus
