Job Description
The Cook is responsible for food preparation that exceeds hospitality and service standards of The Vineyards community. Prepares all foods to meet quantity and deadline requirements. Able to effectively manage all food production in the absence of the Chef and/or Sous Chef.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have at least three years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant setting
- Highly professional and dependable
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills
- Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate
- Basic culinary coursework or equivalent experience highly preferred
- Hardworking and self-motivated
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- High school diploma or GED required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Prepares food items using recipes that exceed hospitality and service standards.
- Determine food and supplies needed and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
- Monitor all food items to see that the guidelines for temperature, taste and quality are upheld at all times.
- Exceed standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
- Assist with orientation and training of new kitchen associates.
- Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
- Attend all in-services as required.
- Responsible for following all local, state and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Assist with proper documents of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
- Opportunity to cook for multiple dining venues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
