This position will work with the Arrow Dental Outreach Team to take portable dental care into community settings in Baker, Harney, and Malheur Counties with an emphasis on addressing disparities in chronically vulnerable populations. Provide assessments and preventive services including sealants, fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride, nutritional counseling, and oral hygiene instructions to members of all ages. Work directly with the sites where services will be provided to schedule, coordinate services, and maintain positive relationships with community partners. Manage supply inventory and daily schedule. This position functions independently in community settings and requires strong organization skills, proficiency with electronic documentation systems, and the ability to effectively manage a mobile schedule across a large geographic service area. 

Arrow Dental is an Oregon-based dental care organization that offers routine care, restorative therapy and other specialty services to Medicaid and private insurance members throughout the state of Oregon. 

Clinic hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:30 m-5:30pm.

Pay Range: $46.29 to $58.33 per hour (depending on experience). Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range. 
 

Required Skills:

  1. Current Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist license in the State of Oregon
  2. BLS for Healthcare Providers
  3. Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain personal automobile insurance
  4. Reliable transportation, capable of traveling long distances in varying weather and road conditions.
  5. Three or more years of work experience in the dental field
  6. Experience working with children, preferably in a school or community health setting
  7. Knowledge of dental coding and terminology
  8. Strong computer skills with the ability to efficiently use tablets, laptops, EHRs, cloud-based applications, and Microsoft Office programs
  9. Comfortable learning and utilizing new technology platforms and software applications
  10. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  11. Reliable, self-motivated, able to work independently to meet or exceed goals
  12. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with community workers, members, providers, and internal staff
  13. Strong planning and organizational skills
  14. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  15. Team player willing to perform related tasks and duties
  16. Ability and willingness to travel extensively within designated territory
  17. Ability to represent Arrow Dental and ODS Dental Medicaid at outside meetings, conferences and events

Primary Functions:

  1. Participate in the implementation of a robust dental outreach program for Baker, Harney, and Malheur Counties.
  2. Incorporate the strategic goals of our CCO partners related to oral health including oral health/medical health integration, into the outreach program.
  3. Promote and support Arrow Dental through oral wellness programs with a focus on the Medicaid population.
  4. Communicate with Community Partners (Schools, Community Health Centers, Head Starts, ect) to facilitate and schedule dental services at each location.
  5. Conduct oral health screenings (assessments) for members in the community.
  6. Apply dental sealants to teeth based on a professional, clinical judgement.
  7. Apply fluoride varnish and silver diamine fluoride based on the patient’s need and consent received from guardian.
  8. Maintain accurate patient records.
  9. Complete electronic charting, treatment documentation, and care coordination activities using a tablet, laptop, and other electronic systems in a mobile work environment.
  10. Utilize electronic health records, patient management software, and Microsoft Office applications to document services, track patient care, and maintain program records.
  11. Maintain portable dental supplies and equipment ensuring they are clean, and stored according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  12. Maintain inventory of dental supplies, re-order as needed
  13. Ensure compliant with all health and safety regulations and guidelines from Arrow Dental and Oregon Health Authority.
  14. Communicate members with urgent and dental needs to Arrow Dental Manager of Outreach Programs.
  15. Participate in community outreach and education events to promote Arrow Dental Outreach services
  16. Attend oral health workshops, conferences and internal and external meetings to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by Manger of Outreach Programs

 

Working Conditions:

  • Will need to work in a variety of facilities with portable dental equipment, with the ability to stand for extended periods of time.  Lifting, setup and tear down of portable dental equipment that could exceed 40 lbs.  Telephone and close keyboard work. This position requires extensive travel throughout Baker, Harney, and Malheur Counties. Daily travel between schools, Head Starts, community health centers, and other community locations is expected. Employees will transport portable dental equipment and supplies using their personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with company policy.  Occasional overnight travel may be required. Travel may occur during adverse weather conditions and over long distances. Work should not regularly exceed 40 hours per week, but could include evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need.
