Job Description

Position Overview:
The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist performs cardiac rehabilitation functions to facilitate patient cardiac fitness. They are critical care team members by performing patient assessments, development and adjustments of personal exercise prescriptions, and demonstration and evaluations of correct body position and equipment use in accordance with the submaximal test or Graded Exercise Test (GXT). The Exercise Physiologist provides appropriate clinical judgment and applies professional skills to a patient population of all ages. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science required. Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.

License:
N/A

Certification:
Must have current certification from American College of Sports Medicine in clinical area or from American Association of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in either the Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional or Pulmonary Rehab Certificate. If not current, must obtain within two (2) years of start date. Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Current certification in ACLS or within six (6) months of start date required.

Experience:
A minimum of two years' continuous experience with evaluation and treatment of patients with cardiac or pulmonary disease and deconditioning.

Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Manager

Physical Demands:
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs and uses many physical motions in performing day to day activities; must be able to stand for extended periods of time and due a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue; may be exposed to communicable diseases or radiation.

Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak, and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in person and on the telephone. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, with or without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work flexible hours, when required/requested.



Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages. Must work close with the staff to maintain excellent relations with cardiologists and other healthcare workers.

Special Demands:
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Must have working knowledge of MS Outlook.
