Job Description:

Executive Support Technician

The Executive Support Technician provides high touch, personalized technical support to senior executives at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role ensures the smooth, secure, and reliable operation of executive computing environments by resolving hardware, software, and network issues quickly and effectively. The technician engages directly with NIH leadership, delivering proactive support, modern technology solutions, and exceptional customer service in a fast paced, high visibility environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated, concierge level IT support to NIH executive staff

Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving hardware, software, peripherals, accessories, and mobile devices

Maintain, support, and troubleshoot executive laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals to ensure uninterrupted operation

Support endpoint environments across Windows 11, Apple macOS, and Linux/UNIX operating systems

Support iOS and Android mobile platforms, including enterprise managed smartphones and tablets

Coordinate with internal IT teams to resolve complex issues and implement modern, secure technology solutions

Enhance reliability and efficiency through process improvements, automation, and proactive technical recommendations

Implement and follow IT security protocols, including manual patching, updates, and antivirus requirements

Clearly communicate technical concepts to technical and non technical users, including senior NIH leadership

Make quick, well informed decisions in high pressure environments to resolve executive level technical issues with minimal disruption

Manage mobile devices using enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms

Ensure smooth operation of all executive IT equipment and provide timely, accurate technical assistance

Provide full endpoint support across the following;

  • Desktop and laptop systems running Windows 11, Apple macOS, and Linux/UNIX
  • Tablets, smartphones, and mobile devices using iOS and Android

Deliver efficient, secure, and executive level support using the following tools;

  • Trellix ePO Antivirus Management
  • BigFix Management Services
  • JAMF Device Management
  • Ivanti MobileIron
  • Spok management
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE)
  • Microsoft Defender Antivirus (MDAV)

Required Qualifications

5 years of experience providing technical support to high level executives, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues

Experience managing and administering Windows and Mac systems, including workstations and mobile devices

Experience supporting Linux/UNIX environments

Experience complying with security standards, including manual management of patches, updates, and antivirus solutions

Ability to understand technical vision and communicate it clearly to technical and non technical parties

Proven ability to make rapid, effective decisions and resolve complex issues efficiently in high pressure executive environments

Experience managing mobile devices using MDM platforms such as JAMF, BigFix, or Intune

Security Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain an NIH Public Trust clearance

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $30.44 - $41.18. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
