JOB SUMMARY

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operations of the long-term care facility. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, financial oversight, staff development, and quality patient care. The Executive Director serves as the key liaison between staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of care and service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies, including CMS, state health departments, and OSHA.


  • Develop, implement, and manage the facility's budget to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and financial performance, making adjustments as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures while maintaining quality care.

  • Oversee billing, reimbursement, and financial reporting processes.

  • Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff in collaboration with the HR department.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes teamwork and employee engagement.

  • Implement training and professional development programs for staff.

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet patient needs.

  • Promote a culture of excellence in resident care and satisfaction.

  • Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as necessary.

  • Address and resolve resident and family concerns with professionalism and empathy.

  • Serve as the primary representative of the facility to families, community organizations, and stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, referral sources, and healthcare professionals.

  • Oversee marketing initiatives to enhance the facility’s reputation and occupancy rates.

  • Ensure the facility meets all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate liability and enhance resident safety.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and policy changes.


Leadership and Human Resource Management:

Demonstrates consistent leadership performance and behavior by actively being engaged in making SMH/BHHN a positive force within the organization and actively promoting teamwork and harmony. Delegates effectively and supervises follow-through. Persuasive, fair, impartial, sets high standards, and ensures clear focus and direction. Achieves desired results with support, confidence and integrity. Regularly recognizes the achievements of others. Leads others to success, supporting individual and team accomplishments.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience & License


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field.

  • Licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) or ability to obtain licensure within 8 months.

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting.

  • BLS, required

  • Central Registry, required.


Additional Skills


  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing long-term care.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, lead teams, and drive operational success.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology is a plus.
