Executive Director of Clinical Services (EDCS)

Executive Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the overall direction of the facility’s clinical services delivery, including clinical supervision, consultation, and programmatic planning.  The EDCS is responsible for the overall clinical development of all programs and staff.  This includes direct supervision of Social Services, Adjunctive Therapy, Outpatient program staff and the Residential Treatment Center. 

The EDCS will be directly responsible for the management and development of the Adolescent Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment Facility (PRTF)/ Residential Treatment (RTC) Program at RBHH. This is a new program at RBHH and within the organization.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates and oversees all inpatient and outpatient services provided by Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.
• Supervises, trains and oversees staff development of all Social Service, Adjunctive Therapy, and Outpatient Program staff. 
• Ensures that staff has adequate training in all procedures. 
• Coordinates with the Human Resources Director the interviewing, selection, promotion, and evaluation of applicants and employees as required by Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.
• Oversees and evaluates clinical consultations being executed by staff to ensure effective service delivery.
• Provides guidance to staff to assist them in continually improving all aspects of care.
• Monitors staff performance and provides regular feedback on quality and quantity of work and on conduct; conducting weekly supervision meetings with staff and Social Work students.
• Responsible for scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage for all departments.
• Manages clinical internship programs with local universities, overseeing school requirements, compliance and coordination with the Human Resources Department.
• Consults with Admissions Department, CNO, and CEO about the acceptability of admissions. 
• Represents and distributes information about Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital services to community healthcare entities in a positive educational manner.    
• Current on referral sources and interacts effectively with patients, peers and other staff on appropriate patient treatment options. 
• Understands and communicates the disease pathology associated with behavioral conditions and their models of treatment.
• Facilitates the patient's access to the appropriate level of care and setting.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, health professional affiliates in community, and other departments within the facility.
• Demonstrates good skills in assessing client's crisis and clinical indicators.
• Prepares written report of assessment results in a timely manner (immediately following completed assessment) and includes recommendations for the level of care and treatment needs.
• Makes appropriate interventions during assessments, and crisis situations with clients, family/friends and other professional staff.
• Assesses need for involuntary hospitalization evaluation and contacts county crisis team, law enforcement or Legal 2000 (L2K) employee as needed to ensure the safety of client and others.
• Maintains knowledge of the developmental tasks and sociological theories of pertinent age groups.
• Maintains knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
• Stays abreast of organization's programs and services.
• Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
• Performs related duties, as requested.
• Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
• Participate and assist with Corporate wide clinical Initiatives to develop and expand services in other markets. 
• Growth and management of the PRTF/RTC locally. Potential development in other regions.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in relevant field
• Current state license (LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LPC, etc.)
• Minimum of five years’ experience working in Psychiatric setting
• Experience supervising licensed staff and providing clinical supervision
• Familiarity and comfortable working with issues related to mental health diagnosis, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders and history of trauma.
• All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years.
• All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation.  All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year
• Familiarity with continuum of care and clinical terminology 
• Knowledge of DSM IV-R diagnostic criteria
