The EDA has the responsibility and authority to lead RYSS's Academic team in providing schools with rigorous curricular materials, clear expectations for learning, relevant professional development offerings, and vertically aligned tools to support high-quality instruction and students' academic, social and emotional growth across a growing public charter district. As the expert on curriculum at RYSS, the EDA provides critical advice and thought-partnership to the RYSS Assistant Superintendent on school improvement priorities and works collaboratively with other senior leaders to implement instructional best practices designed to accelerate student achievement. The EDA reports to the Superintendent and is a member of the RYSS leadership team. The EDA manages a team of directors who provide critical expertise, resources, and direct support to schools in curriculum, instruction, and assessment for all RYSS students. Essential Duties & Responsibilities In alignment with the RYSS strategic plan, lead the advancement and implementation of an aligned, district-wide curriculum, across all grades and subjects, that ensures all students have access to rigorous and relevant instruction and meaningful social-emotional learning. Oversee the development and implementation of a scope and sequence of continuous, relevant professional learning for school leaders, instructional staff and student support teams to build content expertise and ensure consistent implementation of RYSS's instructional program. Identify and lead implementation of a coherent set of systems to assess student achievement across grades and subjects. Manage and support a high-performing, data-driven, student-centered academic team that sees it as their mission to provide high quality academic services, (i.e., curriculum and instruction support, professional development, exceptional children services, gifted services, English as Second Language, etc) to RYSS schools while upholding essential tenets of school-based autonomy. Monitor school performance, student achievement objectives, and academic excellence indicators to assess the implementation of RYSS's strategic initiatives in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Ensure the RYSS's instructional program is informed by best practices in pedagogy and provide actionable feedback to RYSS senior leaders and principals that can be implemented to increase leader, teacher, and student outcomes. Collaborate with RYSS leadership and school leaders to develop improvement plans and implement reform models designed to increase achievement of all students. Serve as the key strategic thought partner to the Assistant Superintendent regarding academic and educational issues. Ensure school compliance with state regulations and policies in monitoring, assessment, and reporting for all academic programs, especially those related to diverse learners (Special Education, Multi-Lingual, etc.). Work collaboratively with team members leading efforts related to college and career readiness, data analytics, Family and Community Engagement, Project Grad, and other TCCC departments. Develop and institutionalize two-way communication from school sites to the Academics team to inform and monitor continuous improvement. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or CEO/Superintendent. Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree required in education, school administration and/or a related field Texas Principal certification required; Texas Superintendent certification preferred 10+ years experience in education with a record of success managing and coaching large teams to achieve ambitious goals Expertise in curriculum development, program design, and/or pedagogy Experience as a teacher, teacher-coach, and principal preferred Excellent strategic, analytic, and critical thinking skills Excellent communication skills and competency to set vision, build consensus and manage priorities from conception to completion Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to interpret policy, procedures and assessment data Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior leadership, school administrators, teachers, families, and staff Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Teams) and Google Drive
