Position Summary
The Executive Director of Heart and Vascular Services (Executive Director) provides overall leadership, direction, and management for the cardiology and cardiac surgery programs, with advisory support from the Heart and Vascular Leadership Council and operational and support services provided by the Duke Heart Network.
The Executive Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating initiatives related to Quality, Business Development, Finance, and Resources.

b. Implement business strategies to enhance market share, taking the lead alongside:
a. Provide effective administrative management for assigned clinical areas on a 24-hour basis by planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care. Lead the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, and related policies and procedures. Ensure clinical and operational effectiveness across all aspects of cardiac, vascular, and cardiac surgical care, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.

c. Participate in bi-weekly meetings with Nursing Leadership, as determined by the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, to:

j. Develop budgetary recommendations (capital and operating) in collaboration with the CEO, Leadership Council, and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer.
a. Ensure service line performance aligns with Peake of Care high-reliability principles, utilizing national registries to identify focus areas and measure improvement.
b. Lead and support Heart and Vascular committees and group meetings (excluding Peer Review and related Medical Staff activities).
