Our client is seeking an Executive Director of Healthcare Finance who is a strategic, mission‑driven finance leader responsible for guiding financial strategy, operational performance, and long‑term sustainability for a growing pediatric specialty healthcare organization. As the CFO's key partner and the #2 finance leader, this role provides executive‑level financial insight, leads core financial functions, and supports clinical and operational leaders in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care.


The Executive Director oversees the Director of Finance and the Revenue Cycle Manager and plays a critical role in shaping financial strategy, optimizing reimbursement, and strengthening overall organizational performance.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to support growth and innovation.
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership and operational teams.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational priorities.

Revenue Cycle & Reimbursement Strategy

  • Drive data‑informed improvements to maximize revenue integrity and financial performance.
  • Support initiatives related to payor negotiations, denials management, and cash flow improvement.
  • Provide strategic oversight of revenue cycle operations, reimbursement optimization, and payor strategy.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting

  • Lead annual operating and capital budgeting processes.
  • Develop multi‑year forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial performance dashboards.
  • Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities, recommending solutions that support organizational goals.

Operational Partnership & Compliance

  • Support external audits, cost reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, audit requirements, and financial reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to improve financial performance and resource utilization.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing finance and revenue cycle teams.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional leadership initiatives and organizational planning.

Process Improvement & Financial Stewardship

  • Enhance financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
  • Promote transparency, efficiency, and accuracy across financial operations.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of resources in alignment with mission‑driven care.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • MBA, MHA, CPA, or CMA (preferred)
  • Make informed, data‑driven decisions.
  • Healthcare finance experience required.
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Lead with a service‑oriented, mission‑aligned mindset.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience.
  • Build strong communication channels across the organization.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presentation abilities.
  • Strong background in hospital or health system financial operations.
  • Set clear priorities and align short‑ and long‑term financial strategies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and audit environments.
  • Develop and empower team members through coaching and accountability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (required)
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement, and revenue cycle operations.
