Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Executive Director is to assist the Executive Director with providing oversight, organization, management, and instrumental leadership to this facility.  Such leadership is provided within the guidelines of facility polices and with adherence to all local, state and federal regulations.

  • LEADERSHIP & EXCELLENCE IN QUALITY CARE -Providing leadership and oversight to all operational departments within the facility. This includes:
    • Conducting all job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set forth in the facilities Code of Business Conduct and applicable federal/state laws and professional standards;
    • Being familiar with all operational details of the center and providing direction to each and every department head within the facility. This includes being responsive to their personal and work related needs, providing aggressive direction and striving to upgrade their role and usefulness;
    • Functioning as the leader and final decision maker for the facility’s department heads and/or supervisory team while still encouraging collaborative discussions for facility wide decisions;
    • Working in collaboration with the DON and Nursing Leadership staff to ensure that quality patient care is being delivered in an appropriate, timely and safe manner;
    • Striving to achieve compliance with the organization’s goal to achieve zero in-house acquired wounds with the daily monitoring of skin care;
    • Practicing motivational leadership techniques and setting an example of integrity and work ethic to department heads. This includes accepting the status of facility role model by always making decisions in the best interest of the facility;
    • Developing and implementing a plan of correction as a result of the facility’s annual family satisfaction survey;
    • Developing the management team through compassion and accountability; 
    • Performing annual, introductory, transfer and periodic performance monitoring for all direct reports, which may include documenting evaluations, verbal counseling, disciplinary action, etc.;
  • ADMINISTRATIVE- Maintaining records, implementing systems, and overall compliance with administrative requirements of TLC management, which includes:.
  • FISCAL- Utilizing financial reports, creating and executing the facility budgets.
  • PUBLIC RELATIONS- Personal communications with residents, families, all facility personnel, physicians, medical establishments, outside agencies, etc.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Health Facility Administrator (HFA) in Florida, or eligible for temporary licensure and Florida exam if licensed in another state.
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, and managerial skills, including:
    • Professional communication (verbal/written), decision-making, and crisis management.
    • Budget comprehension, basic math, and computer proficiency (Word, Excel, email).
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality, comply with regulations, and work flexible hours.
    • Positive attitude, patience, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years in leadership/supervisory role in long-term care or nursing home.
  • Skilled in staff recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
  • Experience with labor relations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Financial oversight including budgeting, billing, and cost control.
  • Census development and public relations with residents, families, and agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative: Maintain records, systems, and compliance with TLC Management policies.
  • Fiscal: Manage budgets, financial reports, inventory, and payroll.
  • Public Relations: Foster relationships with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure cleanliness, infection control, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Leadership: Supervise staff, implement programs, and support facility operations 24/7 as needed.
