The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a highly organized, resourceful, and professional Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police to provide confidential executive support to the Chief while helping oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the Police Department. Anticipated Hiring Salary: $ 33.00 to $39.60 Hourly, depending on qualifications

Full Grade Range: $33.00 - $46.20 Hourly

The Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police serves as the Chief's primary administrative partner, providing confidential executive support while coordinating many of the department's administrative functions. Responsibilities include assisting with budget administration, payroll processing, purchasing, grants, detail billing, leave documentation and tracking, FEMA and MEMA reimbursement requests, and public records administration. The position also supervises part-time civilian staff and interns, serves as a primary point of contact for employees and the public, and works closely with Town departments and outside agencies to support the efficient operation of the Police Department. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and bring exceptional organizational and communication skills to a fast-paced public safety environment. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and three to five years of progressively responsible administrative or executive support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, customer service, and computer skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality.  The ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and build positive working relationships with employees, residents, and public officials is essential.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Office Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience working in municipal government.
  • Working knowledge of police department operations.

Licensing/Certifications: Valid U.S. Driver’s License. Must be able to receive certification through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to obtain C.O.R.I (Criminal Offender Record Information).
