We are seeking an EVS Manager to join our team, reporting Plant Operations Director. In this role, you will spearhead the comprehensive management of our Environmental Services (EVS) department. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects, including staff management, education, scheduling, and ensuring optimal team performance. Collaborating closely with the Director, you will craft the strategic direction, vision, and goals for the EVS department and uphold the standards of the broader organization. Integral to your role will be developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures alongside meticulous management of budgets, reports, and safety protocols. Your expertise will ensure regulatory compliance with all agencies governing EVS activities, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and adherence to industry standards. Summary of Duties

Under the supervision of the Plant Operations Director, the EVS Manager is responsible for the overall management of the EVS department. Duties include:

  • Management, education, and scheduling of staff.
  • Develop the direction, vision, and goals of the EVS department and BSWF under the direction of the Associate Administrator.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policy and procedure.
  • Manage department budgets.
  • Manage departmental reports.
  • Manage departmental safety.
  • Manage regulatory compliance will all agencies that govern EVS activities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily logs, discharge cleaning, patient room cleaning, floor care, key and beeper control, supply room stock, laundry and linen management, staff scheduling and management, interactions with all other departments, and overall management of the EVS department.
  • Has monthly staff meetings and maintains meeting minutes
  • Assists with the job training or in-services for staff and maintains education documentation
  • Develops policy and procedure, staff responsibilities, work assignments, documentation, and schedules.
  • Performs QA rounds to ensure departmental work quality.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for Environmental Services.
  • Ensure staff completes all assigned tasks and documentation.
  • Maintains communication between all shifts.
  • Ensures all department equipment is maintained and reports all equipment needing repair.
  • Responsible for ordering and controlling supplies used in the department.
  • Responsible for ordering linens.
  • Completes and maintains all required reports.
  • Acts as a liaison between EVS, guests, visitors, and all other departments. Effectively works with other departments to ensure their EVS needs are satisfied and maintains above-average customer service scores.
  • Reflects professionalism in the performance of duties.
  • Works steadily and consistently. Continually strives to make the best use of time during the assigned shift through careful coordination of daily tasks. Completes work left from previous shifts. Reports all incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedures.
  • Displays initiative to increase productivity.
  • If needed, perform daily patient room cleaning, dismissal, and isolation cleaning according to proper policy guidelines.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of infection control and sanitation matters, including the use of disinfectants, proper operation of cleaning equipment, isolation procedures related to cleaning, and precautionary measures in isolation cases. Trains staff and ensures they use proper cleaning techniques for the required cleaning. Maintains training documentation.
  • Obeys and ensures the staff obey hospital hand washing and infection control regulations.
  • Meets all regulatory agency compliance.
  • Performs all other duties as needed.


Required Skills

Position Qualifications

  • Completion of high school education or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience in Environmental Services is preferred.
  • Must be able to establish policy and procedure.
  • Possess the ability to manage staff and staff schedules.
  • Understands and ensures staff follows established cleaning methods when performing daily tasks.
  • As a working manager, possess the ability to perform routine repetitive cleaning of assigned patient rooms, offices, restrooms, and other areas.
  • Must be able to keep all equipment in good working condition.
  • Possess the ability to perform periodic or situational duties as the Director assigns.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills, written and oral.
  • Must have computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
