The 2026 starting rate of pay is $27.12 - $29.75 per hour with advancement to $38.01 per hour.

Under the direct supervision of the Events Coordinator, the Event Sales and Services Specialist promotes the Mayo Clinic Event Center for meetings, banquets, weddings and conventions; coordinates and oversees events; and assists the Events Coordinator in booking events and servicing client's needs while providing exceptional customer service.

Duties / Responsibilities
Primary Essential Work Functions:
Assists the Events Coordinator with event bookings and fulfillment.
Performs event coordination duties:
Meeting with clients
Determining needs
Assisting clients with event budgets and catering requirements
Preparing event layouts
Coordinating room setups by effectively communicating across departments
Oversees and assists with events in progress:
Resolves operational and procedural problems
Reports and changes in original event requirements and adjusts billings accordingly
Assists with all events both on and off-site.
Assists with the hiring, training, and management of part-time Event Facilitators.
Assists with scheduling staff according to event needs.
Assists the Food and Beverage department with the management of concessions and bar locations including, but not limited to, opening and closing events, managing part-time staff and assisting with food and bar preparation.
Accurately closes out financials on events following facility cash management policies.
Maintains knowledge of, and follows proper protocol relating to alcohol related procedures and liabilities.
Works collaboratively and assists across all event center departments as necessary.
Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.

This position will work abbreviated normal office hours, plus night, holiday, and weekend hours. This position is responsible for event preparation, presentation, and move out periods. Continuous hours of work may be varied and long as events and productions determine working hours.

Health Insurance Coverage Through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MN:
Health insurance plans to choose from: $5,000 HDHP with an HSA, $3,400 HDHP with an HSA, $500 CMM, $100 CMM/Traditional Plan
Single Coverage
The City will contribute 95% of the premium for the IRS Minimum Embedded Deductible Plan.
The City will contribute 100% of the premium for the alternative High-Deductible plan.
For all other single coverage plan options, the City will contribute at the same premium rate as the IRS minimum embedded deductible plan.
Dependent Coverage (Employee + Spouse, Employee + Children, or Family)
The City will contribute 90% of the premium of each High-Deductible Plan option. All other plan options the City will contribute at the same premium rate as the IRS minimum embedded deductible plan.
Employee Responsibility
Employees are responsible for paying the remaining percentage of premiums, which will be deducted through payroll, on a bi-weekly basis.
City contributions for union members will follow negotiated contract language.

Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave
Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave is a benefit for employees to be able to have paid time off (with partial wage replacement) and job protection for employees who need to take leave for certain medical or family-care reasons. This is a State required benefit for all employers in the State of Minnesota. Premium contributions for this benefit will be at a shared cost to the City and the employee. Premium rates for 2026 are .78% of gross earnings. This will be split 50/50. Employees will see a .39% of gross wages after tax deduction.
Term Life Insurance:
The City provides a term life insurance policy at no cost to the employee. (Face value is 125% of employees base salary up to a maximum of face value of $50,000).
Retirement - PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association)
Must participate as directed by Minnesota Statutes.
Employer and employee contribution rates vary depending on position.
May obtain refund of employee contribution on termination of service.
