The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for an Event Custodian for the Cultural Arts Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. Employees in this class perform a variety of routine housekeeping duties in Town offices and buildings. Work involves the use of light equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms and buffers. Work includes cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms, stair, and stripping and waxing floors. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, supplemented by instructions on new or unusual assignments. The worker exercises some independent judgment and initiative in determining the level of cleaning required for an area and in following product directions. The employee is subject to indoor environmental conditions, fumes, odors, and dust. Tasks involve continuing physical effort requiring efficient performance of duties. Work in the cleaning of buildings is subject to the final standards of OSHA blood borne pathogens. Courtesy is required in contact with the public. Work is performed under supervision and is evaluated through daily reports, conferences, observation, and feedback. As the Event Custodian you will:
Experience in housekeeping in residential and/or commercial settings. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. General knowledge of cleaning practices and cleaning chemicals. Demonstrated strong customer service skills. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure. Complete all assigned tasks within the guidelines & deadlines set by Supervisors and Event Manager. Experience operating walk behind, scrubbers, and carpet extractors is preferred. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned. Education: High School Diploma or GED OR Depending on the position, the Town may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
