Description of Work

DSDHH is hiring! We are seeking an event planner with strong knowledge of accessibility logistics to join our team as an Event Coordinator!

As Event Coordinator, you will plan, implement, oversee, and execute internal and external conferences, large meetings, and special events. From selecting venues to day-of set up and breakdown, you will that every DSDHH event is welcoming and accessible for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and Hearing attendees. Attendants, participants, guests, and presenters will look to you for guidance and collaboration throughout the entire event lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate all accessibility logistics, including CART captioning, ASL interpreters, tactile interpreters, and assistive listening devices
  • Arrange attendant transportation when needed
  • Select and reserve accessible office spaces, and venues
  • Work with speakers and presenters to ensure that presentation materials are accessible
  • Design event floor plans, including stages, seating, booths, décor, signage, and material placement
  • Prepare and distribute event materials such as flyers, brochures, placards, and printouts
  • Collect and manage food and beverage orders
  • Proactively identify, prevent, and resolve event issues, including A/V challenges
  • Recruit, organize, and delegate responsibilities to event volunteers

The Event Coordinator will also coordinate, manage logistics, and perform administrative work for the NC Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $41,206.00 - $72,113.00

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

  • Conversational proficiency in American Sign Language preferred.

  • Foundational knowledge of accessibility logistics / communication access for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind preferred.
