ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an immediate need to fill several part-time and full-time, non-exempt Eureka! Summer Program Counselor openings in the Pittsburgh region. Eureka! summer programming with GIGP is designed to engage middle-school girls in exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and motivate them to pursue post-secondary education and careers in STEM fields. GIGP intends to fill up to 2 part-time and 3 full-time temporary roles for three (3) weeks during the summer at the Hill Community Engagement Center. The Eureka! Summer Program Counselor is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and empowering environment for middle school girls. This role requires the ability to motivate and inspire participants while supporting hands- on, science-focused programming. The 2026 Eureka! summer program will take place for three weeks (June 15 -July 3). Program hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. An orientation meeting is anticipated to be held on/about June 10, 2026. GIGP will accept applications through June 1, 2026, with interview invitations to begin on a rolling basis. However, applications will be accepted after this date for unfilled positions. The pay rate for the Eureka! Summer Program Counselor position is $17.50 per hour.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Reporting to GIGP's Program Manager, the Eureka! Summer Program Counselor will provide on-site leadership and guidance to summer program participants to ensure a memorable and safe GIGP summer program experience, which aims to build girls' confidence through achievement opportunities in STEM, careers, and sports. GIGP welcomes candidates who have experience with and/or interest in working with children, particularly girls in late-elementary to middle school. Programming is held both indoors and outdoors to provide a variety of activities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
At a minimum, the Eureka! Summer Program Counselor will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:
WHAT YOU'LL BRING ALONG
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in youth development or working with youth. Experience in girls-centered program development, implementation, and evaluation is strongly preferred.
