We typically see estimators ranging from $60k-100k and up + bonus in our industry.Position SummaryThe Estimator – Power Delivery is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for EPC construction projects within the electric utility sector. This role focuses primarily on power delivery construction , including substations, transmission lines, and BESS facilities , across both greenfield and brownfield environments. The Estimator will also support select industrial construction estimates as workload and project mix require.This position plays a critical role in supporting business development, project execution, and risk management by developing detailed cost models, evaluating construction means and methods, and collaborating closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and project management teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPower Delivery Estimating (Primary Focus)Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for: High-voltage and medium-voltage substations (AIS/GIS, expansions, retrofits)Transmission line projects (overhead and underground)BESS facilities, including civil, electrical, and balance-of-plant scopesDevelop estimates for greenfield and brownfield construction, including live substation work and outage-constrained environmentsPerform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and modelsDevelop labor, equipment, material, subcontract, and indirect cost estimatesEvaluate construction means and methods , sequencing, and productivity assumptionsAnalyze project risks and opportunities and incorporate appropriate contingenciesSupport design-build, EPC, EPCM, and negotiated project delivery methodsParticipate in estimate reviews, value engineering, and risk review meetingsAssist with bid strategy development , pricing decisions, and proposal supportIndustrial Construction Estimating (Secondary / Supplemental)Support estimating efforts for industrial construction projects, including: Electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical scopesUtility, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilitiesCoordinate with discipline leads to ensure scope completeness and constructabilityCollaboration & HandoverWork closely with: Engineering to understand design intent and constructabilityConstruction teams to validate labor productivity and field execution strategiesProcurement to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricingProject management to support estimate-to-budget handoffParticipate in post-bid reviews and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracyRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience1-5+ years of estimating experience in power delivery, utility, or heavy civil constructionDemonstrated experience estimating: Substations and/or transmission line projectsUtility-scale electrical infrastructureStrong understanding of: EPC contracting and project delivery modelsConstruction means, methods, and sequencingLabor productivity and cost drivers in utility constructionAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specificationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with BESS or renewable energy infrastructureExposure to live substation work , outages, and brownfield constraintsExperience with industrial construction estimatingKnowledge of union and non-union labor environmentsFamiliarity with utility owner standards and specificationsProfessional certifications (PMP, CCP, PE, etc.) a plusEstimating Tools & Software (Preferred)Estimating software such as Hard Dollar, HCSS, WinEst, HeavyBid , Bid2Win , or similarScheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)Advanced Excel skillsExperience with takeoff tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, etc.)Key CompetenciesStrong analytical and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail with the ability to see the “big picture”Effective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneouslyCollaborative mindset with field, engineering, and leadership teamsPerformance MeasuresAccuracy of estimates versus actual project costsTimeliness and completeness of estimate deliverablesQuality of risk identification and contingency developmentEffectiveness of estimate handoff to project execution teamsSome notes:If your salary expectations exceed our range, we still want to talk with you.Powerserve Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.8am-4pm Mon-Friday in our Jupiter Office
