    This role is responsible for developing accurate bid proposals, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing costs, and supporting the full estimating process from pre-bid through project handoff.

    What You’ll Do (Essential Duties & Responsibilities)

    Estimating & Bid Development

    • Obtain and review contract documents to define scope and risks
    • Develop comprehensive bid proposals including quantity take-offs and preliminary schedules
    • Solicit and evaluate material and subcontractor quotations
    • Break bid items into labor, equipment, and material requirements

    Cost Analysis & Risk Management

    • Maintain and analyze historical cost data
    • Formulate contingency plans and manage risks impacting cost and schedule
    • Evaluate alternative construction methods and value-engineering opportunities

    Subcontractor & Compliance Coordination

    • Evaluate subcontractor needs and review scopes for completeness
    • Manage pre-bid development of D/M/WBE & SDVOB plans and good faith efforts

    Bid Execution & Review

    • Prepare and submit bid documents accurately and on time
    • Attend pre-bid meetings and travel to project sites as required
    • Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with executive management

    Collaboration & Handoff

    • Work closely with estimators and project managers on estimating efforts
    • Assist with post-bid documentation for project award
    • Coordinate estimating handoff to project management teams

    Continuous Improvement

    • Review completed project performance with project teams
    • Identify lessons learned to support future estimates and proposals

    What You Bring (Qualifications & Education)

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or comparable field experience

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil estimating and/or project management
    • Experience estimating bridge and/or heavy highway construction projects
    • Experience estimating projects between $1M and $15M
    • Experience with design-build or alternate delivery methods preferred

    Skills

    • Working knowledge of heavy civil means and methods, crew composition, and production rates
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe or Bluebeam, and estimating software (e.g., InEight or similar)
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
