New York | Hybrid

$90000 – $12000 (Based on Experience)

Morgan Legal Group, P.C. is seeking an experienced and motivated Estate & Probate Attorney to join our growing Trusts & Estates practice in New York.

This position is ideal for an attorney with experience handling estate planning, probate, estate administration, and Surrogate's Court proceedings who is looking to work directly with clients, manage sophisticated matters, and grow within a fast-paced and highly respected trusts and estates law firm.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving estate planning, probate proceedings, estate administration, trust administration, guardianships, and related Surrogate's Court matters throughout New York State.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including Wills, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, and Living Wills
  • Handle probate and administration proceedings from inception through completion
  • Prepare and file petitions, affidavits, accountings, and related Surrogate's Court documents
  • Advise executors, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries regarding fiduciary responsibilities
  • Manage estate and trust administration matters, including asset collection, distributions, and accountings
  • Conduct client consultations and develop comprehensive estate planning strategies
  • Appear in Surrogate's Court throughout New York State as needed
  • Draft legal correspondence, memoranda, and court filings
  • Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, title companies, and other professionals
  • Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with court deadlines
  • Assist with guardianship matters under Article 81 and related proceedings
  • Support trust and estate litigation matters when necessary

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active admission and good standing with the New York State Bar
  • 2+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, estate administration, or trusts and estates law preferred
  • Strong understanding of New York Surrogate's Court Procedure Act (SCPA), Estates Powers & Trusts Law (EPTL), and related statutes
  • Experience drafting estate planning documents and handling probate proceedings
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Client-focused mindset with a professional and compassionate demeanor
  • Experience with Clio, Microsoft Office, and legal practice management software preferred
