General Description of Position Duties:
Lebanon Community School Corporation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to lead a K\u20135 Essential Skills- Life Skills classroom. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction and support to students with significant cognitive, adaptive, and developmental needs in alignment with Indiana Article 7 and IDEA guidelines. This role requires strong collaboration with general education staff, related service providers, families, and paraprofessionals to ensure students receive individualized, meaningful, and inclusive educational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned to student needs, goals, and state standards.
- Provide direct instruction in functional academics, adaptive behavior, communication, and daily living skills.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student independence and social-emotional growth.
- Use evidence-based practices, assistive technology, and differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and administrators to support inclusion and access to the general curriculum.
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals in carrying out instructional and behavioral interventions.
- Monitor and document student progress through data collection, assessments, and ongoing communication with families.
- Participate in case conferences, professional development, and staff meetings.
- Comply with all state and federal special education regulations, including Indiana Article 7 requirements.
